Wen Wei Lion & Dragon Dance Association was established in Malacca in 2010 by a group of young people with a strong passion for and commitment to the traditional art of lion dance.
In its early years, the association was known as Ayer Keroh Wen Wei Lion Dance. As the organisation expanded its activities and introduced a wider range of Chinese cultural and sports activities, it was subsequently renamed and officially registered as the Wen Wei Lion & Dragon Dance Association.
Our mission is to promote and preserve the traditional art and culture of Chinese dragon and lion dance, while providing a healthy and positive platform for young people to participate in meaningful activities.
Through dragon and lion dance training, we aim to nurture discipline, teamwork, good interpersonal relationships and a strong sense of responsibility, while encouraging young people to stay away from unhealthy activities.
Since our establishment, we have welcomed students from Malaysia’s three major ethnic groups — Chinese, Malay and Indian. This diversity is one of our strengths and reflects the spirit of unity and multiculturalism that makes Malaysia unique.
